The covers for the mock-up are done, and though they're messier than they should be, that's what a mock-up's all about: learning how to put it together. I've changed the original design somewhat, just putting a strip of the Thai fabric backed paper across the cover, like a bandage, rather than covering the whole outside again. That's because it's very lumpy, textured paper and doesn't lend itself to being folded under and covered by endsheets, as I'd planned. However, a strip of it goes around the whole cover very nicely and can be tucked under the cover of the title frame, since it's being held closed with a bone closure. So here's pics:

The hand beads are held on with copper wire and the bone closure is held on with faux sinew, which is very much like waxed binding thread, except the strands are flat. It's a little creepy, but perfect for this book.
I'm really pleased with the covers. Now I just have to get the interior right. That's turning into another saga, but more on that later.
